Clarity before anything
If our advice isn't clear enough to act on, we haven't finished writing it. Every letter, every call, every recommendation in language you can use.
Jefferson Clarke is a new Manchester law firm built around a simple idea: legal advice should be clear, honestly priced and delivered by someone who answers when you call.
efferson Clarke opened its doors on Stockport Road in Levenshulme because we believed Manchester needed a different kind of law firm — one where you leave the first meeting knowing your options, your prospects and your likely costs, not clutching a letter you can't decipher.
We keep the practice focused on the law people actually bring to a high-street solicitor — from immigration and housing to wills, divorce and debt. The same kinds of matter, handled every week, done properly. If yours sits outside what we do, we'll say so and point you towards someone better placed to help.
Everything we send you is written in plain English, and wherever the work allows we agree a fixed fee before we start. No surprises on the invoice, no silence between updates.
Jefferson Clarke Limited is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA number 8012711) — the independent body that oversees solicitors in England and Wales. That's not a box-ticking exercise. It means we must meet the SRA's standards on competence, client care and the handling of client money, and it means you have somewhere to turn if something ever goes wrong. Like every regulated firm, we carry professional indemnity insurance, so you're protected in the rare event that advice falls short. You can check our entry on the Law Society's Find a Solicitor register.
Everything you tell us is confidential. From your very first enquiry — whether or not you go on to instruct us — what you share stays between you and the solicitor handling your matter. The only exceptions are the narrow ones the law requires.
We also hold ourselves to a simpler standard: advice in plain English. If you can't act on a letter after reading it once, we haven't finished writing it.
Why Levenshulme? Because that's where our clients are. Our office at 721 Stockport Road sits on one of south Manchester's busiest high streets, serving Levenshulme, Longsight, Burnage, Fallowfield and the communities around them. These are people who often need immigration, housing or family advice from a solicitor they can actually get to — on foot or a short bus ride away — not a city-centre firm behind a switchboard.
If our advice isn't clear enough to act on, we haven't finished writing it. Every letter, every call, every recommendation in language you can use.
We'd rather tell you a claim is weak in the first meeting than take your money and tell you in a year. A straight assessment costs you nothing but a conversation.
Fixed fees wherever the work allows, agreed before we start. Where a fixed fee genuinely isn't possible, an honest estimate and a warning before costs move.
Your matter isn't passed around a department. The person you meet on day one is the person who runs your case and returns your calls.
From the day you instruct us, you'll know who's handling your matter, what happens next, and roughly when. We answer enquiries within one working day and keep you updated when something changes — and when it doesn't, so you're never left wondering if your case has gone quiet.
Everything we send you is written in plain English. If a letter or a piece of advice isn't clear enough to act on, we haven't done our job. We'd much rather you rang us than sat at home worrying about what something meant.
On costs, you'll always know where you stand. Where the work allows, we agree a fixed fee before we start. Where it doesn't, we give an honest estimate and tell you before anything changes. No surprises on the invoice — that's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Not sure where you stand? Start with a conversation.
The same four-step approach for every client, whichever area of law brings you to us.
We listen to what's happened, review your documents and give you a straight view of where you stand — including whether you need a solicitor at all.
You get the options in plain English: what we'd do, how long it's likely to take and what could get in the way. You choose the route; we set it out in writing.
Wherever the work allows we agree the fee before we begin. Where it doesn't, we give an honest estimate and flag any change before costs move.
You hear from us when something happens — and when it doesn't, so you're never left wondering. Enquiries answered within one working day.
Book a consultation and get a clear view of your options, your prospects and your likely costs — before you commit to anything.
